Construction work at our Oleaster site

Published: 01/12/2020

Please be aware that major building work is due to take place at our Oleaster site in Edgbaston (close to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital) from Friday 27 November 2020. The Trust are aiming to keep disruption to a minimum, but inevitably with such major work, some disruption may occur.

The purpose of the work is to develop an urgent care centre providing a therapeutic environment for adults and children of all ages. This is a very important project and will provide the Trust with appropriate therapeutic and clinical space which is future proofed to meet changing demand. It will be developed alongside a community crisis pathway, provided in partnership with Forward Thinking Birmingham and the voluntary sector. No direct work is expected on any of the acute wards at Oleaster but the Psychiatric Decisions Unit has been temporarily relocated.

How will this work those attending Oleaster:

  • There is to be no parking on the double yellow lines at Oleaster. Any cars parked in this area that are damaged will not be the responsibility of the Trust. There will be a large number of lorries using this road while the building work is being completed.

  • Parking in these areas will also impact on access for emergency vehicles and we are expecting fines to be imposed on any car parked illegally. The car park will remain available but has limited space.

  • Noise levels from this work will be high and may impact on areas around the Oleaster. The main works will be between 8am-5pm excluding weekends.
