Community event following the devastating earthquakes in Syria and Turkey

Published: 16/02/2023
We would like to express our deepest heartfelt condolences to those who have lost loved ones in the earthquakes and aftershocks that have devastated much of northern Syria and neighbouring southern Turkey.

Please hold Syria and Turkey in your hearts and the efforts of the rescue teams in the weeks and months ahead as they try to help the survivors in the aftermath of this disaster. Urgent aid is desperately needed in freezing conditions survivors now are facing.

The Disasters Emergency Committee brings together 15 leading UK charities to raise funds quickly and coordinate responses and are taking donations. Please follow the link below if you are able to help - https://www.dec.org.uk/

We understand that this is a difficult and distressing time. Here at BSMHFT, the Syrian Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme (SVPRS) team will be arranging a community event to provide Syrian service users and their families a safe space to express their thoughts and feelings and to access support.

The event will take place Sunday 19 February 2023, 11am – 2pm at the Allen’s Cross Community Centre, 24 Tinkers Farm Rd, Birmingham B31 1RH.If you would like to get in touch with the SVPRS team, please contact bsmhft.communityengagement@nhs.net.
