Positive Mental Health Group joins in the fun for St Patrick’s Day

Over 80 000 people lined the streets in Birmingham last Sunday for the biggest St Patrick’s parade in in the UK on Sunday.

The sun was shining bright on the crowds gathered to for the parade, which opened at noon as a huge cannon fired a shower of green and yellow paper over the streets.

Amongst the parade - which featured floats, vintage vehicles, carnival costumes and an Irish dragon - was our Positive Mental Health Group. They took their place in the walking groups behind the marching band, who provided the crowd with rousing tunes along the three mile parade route.

PMHG St Patrick's Day
The Positive Mental Health Group took their place in the walking groups, behind a splendid marching band which provided the group with rousing tunes along the three mile parade route.  We would like to thank Sulamain, Shane, Neville, Gary, David, Ali, Mark and Faheem who carried the banner and distributed time-to-change postcards to the crowd.

The group had a great time and would like to extend the opportunity to get involved with PMHG this year.  To join the fun at Vaisakhi, Gay pride or Eid Mela – just come along to the next monthly meeting – always the last Thursday of each month from 2.30pm at Matchbox Café, at the LGBT Health & Wellbeing Centre.  Dates for 2014 can be found here.
