What does it mean to be an ally?
Being an LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning and more) ally helps to create an inclusive environment where everyone can feel free to be themselves.
In a study conducted by Stonewall, it was found that half of LGBTQ+ people had experienced depression, and three in five had experienced anxiety. With statistics like those, it is all the more important that we understand how we can help to support the community and their mental wellbeing.
One of our young patients took the time out of their day to share in their own words why it is so important to be an ally.
If you need to speak to someone, help is out there. Please visit our LGBTQ+ mental health support information page today.
