Our annual Assistant Psychologist away day took place earlier today, with around 75 Assistant Psychologists (APs) in attendance from Team BSMHFT and neighbouring trusts.

Hosted and organised by BSMHFT colleagues, this annual event is the perfect opportunity for colleagues from across the patch to network, explore best practice and demonstrate the true meaning of co-production and shared learning.

The theme this year was Health Inequities and Social Injustice, something that is particularly important to our Trust, with inclusivity being one of our three core values as an organisation.

Dr Sunny Kalsy-Lillico, Chief Psychological Professions Officer opened the session, reflecting on the importance of celebrating psychological professions, noting on the incredible work achieved last year and the progression towards ‘a more psychological’ NHS.

Throughout the day the group listened to presentations with topics ranging from social injustice, health inequalities in prison settings, art psychotherapy and human rights-based approaches for psychologists, to name just a few.

Thank you to the Assistant Psychologist Leadership team (APs Mohammed, Tahnia, Farzana, Miranda, Nina, Olivia and Clinical Psychologist, Dave) who went over and above to ensure the day went as smoothly as possible.
