A huge thank you to the 40 people who rolled up their sleeves and did their bit in an effort to fight flu and protect their colleagues, service users and loved ones this winter.

Pitched at a stall at our Annual General Meeting, Derek Tobin, Flu Campaign Project Lead and Sue Wigmore, Occupational Health Nurse administered the flu vaccine to willing attendees. With an informative and gentle approach, the pair even managed to administer the vaccine to colleagues who have a phobia of needles, colleagues like Helen Tomblin. Helen said:

“I didn’t intend on having the flu jab that day as I hate needles and often faint, but with some encouragement and a hand to hold, I went for it. When I got home I told my elderly mum and she said she didn’t think I would have had it done, but was really pleased that I had.”

Flu vaccines are safe and effective. They’re offered by the NHS every year in autumn or early winter to help protect people at risk of flu and its complications. Visit the NHS website to learn more about the flu vaccine and where you can get yours.
