If you struggle with feelings of isolation but find it hard to be a part of traditional clinical settings or large groups, we could have the answer for you.
Outside, Alongside is a new art therapy group run by our Arts Psychotherapies team at Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.
The group runs for 12 weeks at different intervals throughout the year (Spring, Summer, and Autumn).
The aim of the group is to combine the benefits of a creative therapy with working outside in a natural setting. It is particularly suitable for people who:
• Find being in groups difficult but also feel isolated
• Find being in traditional clinical spaces challenging
• Might benefit from being outside and being more active
• Are interested in how being outside and creativity improves mental wellbeing
This small group of six to eight participants will work each week with two art psychotherapists in an outdoor space on the grounds of our beautiful Uffculme Centre, located in Kings Heath.
The group will meet for two hours each week on a Friday morning between 11am-1pm. Please note that you do not need to be ‘good’ at art to participate, this group is for anyone who feels they could benefit, and is under the care of one of our Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT’s).
We welcome self-referral or supported referrals, please fill out our referral form and send it to bsmhft.art.psychotherapy.team@nhs.net.
