We are now over halfway through South Asian Heritage Month, and today’s special mention is for Jas Kaur, Associate Director for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and Organisational Development, who received not one but two nominations.
The first nomination was from Marimouttou Coumarassamy, Deputy Chief Operating Officer, who said:
“I found Jas to be a supportive and enabling leader. I have worked very closely with Jas for the last two years. Jas is very approachable and never hesitates to challenge any issues. She has a coaching approach that helps us to produce solutions with confidence. She has supported many of my staff and I am seeing them more confident and capable. She has a special skill that builds up resilience in people. I found her to be humane without missing fun element.”
The second nomination was from Jazz Janagle, Lead For Experts by Experience, when asked why he nominated Jas, he said:
“For her outstanding commitment to the space of equality, diversity and inclusion. To recognise her leadership and motivation of others. For being an inspirational role model. For showing that South Asian women can aspire to be senior leaders and do a brilliant job. In recognition of her new role and the achievement that is. For challenging and disrupting – positively, respectfully and professionally. For questioning and challenging the status quo. For being brave.”
When asked about her heritage, Jas said:
“Punjabi culture is embedded so deep in everything I do. It is all about sharing, caring for each other, community, music and fun. The saying is that wherever in the world you meet Punjabi people you will naturally connect and find support, whether it be through food, music or generally socialising, this is defiantly me!”
