To start the week off, we are spotlighting Kamaldip (Kam) Kaur Bassra, South East Home Treatment Team Manager as part of our staff shoutout during South Asian Heritage Month.
Kam was nominated by her colleague Marva Johnson-Jones, Customer Relations Officer. Marva said:
“In my communications with Kam, I have found her to be very responsive, reliable and helpful in assisting to address concerns raised by service users. She has demonstrated a commitment to reflect on her practice and show a sense of urgency, no matter how small the issue is. It is a pleasure working with her and I believe she should be commended for demonstrating the Trust’s Values of compassionate, inclusive and committed.”
Kam said:
“My grandparents and parents are migrants from India, Punjab. I am very blessed to be part of such a rich, vibrant and colourful culture. My parents and family have passed down to me many traditions that are close to my heart. I love learning about each tradition, where it came from and what it means. During my wedding, I adored having the weeklong festivities and the rituals being carried to out to start my married life off with prosperity.
SAHM reminds me of the difficulties my elders navigated to ensure that my future could flourish. It reminds me of the lessons that they taught me, and I am lucky to have many strong characters around me who have taught me to remain resilient in the face of adversity, to always be kind and most importantly be unapologetically myself – a proud Punjabi woman.”
