We finish our South Asian Heritage Month celebration by spotlighting Kashmiran Jhalley, Senior Pharmacy Technician, who was nominated by Nigel Barnes, Chief Pharmacist. Nigel said:

“I would like to nominate Kash as she one of the long standing South Asian members of staff working in the Trust, having joined the Pharmacy Service in 1992. For over 20 years, she has suffered from severe rheumatoid arthritis. Throughout this time, despite several struggles with treatment and constant pain, she has continued to work, never complaining and setting a positive example for other people. She is one of the many unsung heroes within the trust.”

Kashmiran was asked about her heritage, and she shares more about her disability as part of our Disability Campaign. Kashmiran said:

I am extremely proud of my Indian heritage. I was three years old when I arrived in England with my parents. I am passionate about India, its culture, values e.g. importance of family, respect/politeness to all especially the elders.

The many traditions and numerous festivals filled with vibrancy of colour, aroma of fabulous food, music, dance and gathering of family and friends.

Regarding my disability it’s something I do not dwell on but have learnt to live with. I am appreciative of my management team who have supported me throughout all these years to enable me to continue working.”
