Today we are celebrating Renu Bhopal-Padhiar, Associate Director Integrated Community Care and Recovery (ICCR) who was nominated by Jazz Janagle, Mental Health Co-Production Lead for Experts By Experience. Jazz said:
“I’d like to nominate (Queen) Renu for her amazing achievements as a truly strong, effective and inspirational Punjabi woman in the great work that she does. I’d particularly like to congratulate her on her new role as Associate Director of ICCR – a well-deserved promotion. I love seeing the rise of South Asian people in our Trust, it’s inspiring.
Renu has previously led the Community Mental Health Transformation Programme and superbly supported the programme, team members, colleagues and Experts By Experiences to make great progress in what we have achieved. She embodies, lives and practices our Trust values and uses these as a basis for all the work she does and the interactions she has. For me personally, she’s absolutely always makes me feel seen, heard, valued and appreciated – I love that.
Renu was instrumental in helping us to win Support Services Team of the Year at this year’s Values Awards, and her brains also helped our team recently win the Caring Minds Charity Quiz! Thank you Renu for all that you do – keep rising, keep inspiring and keep smiling.”
Renu was asked to share more about her heritage. Renu said:
“I love my heritage as I’ve been afforded the space to encompass the traditions and culture of Sikhism and Hinduism. I enjoy continuously learning about our long, diverse, colourful and vibrant history. I value our traditions that inspire pride and a strong sense of community, I thoroughly enjoy the amazing array of food, the heartbeat skipping music and the sense of continuous celebration – for literally any occasion!
I feel blessed to be able to enjoy and celebrate my culture and intertwine that with all the wonderful British traditions I get to enjoy being a first generation British Indian. For the person who nominated me thank you for thinking of me.”
