As part of South Asian Heritage Month, we are spotlighting our unsung heroes from across the Trust. Today we are spotlighting on Sanam Hussain, Deputy Ward Manager (Acute Inpatients/Melissa Suite) who was nominated by Luke Overton, Ward Manager. Luke said:

“Sanam since joining the organisation a year and half ago has had such a positive impact on the Melissa team. She is caring, fair and treats all with the value of inclusivity. She is a positive influence on patient care and advocates for cultural awareness within our team. She is supportive of all staff and is a positive role model to all.”

Sanam was asked to share something about her heritage that she is proud of. Sanam said:

“I am of Pakistani heritage. Being a female from a Pakistani heritage, I feel proud to say that my communication skills have allowed me to raise awareness and advocate for patient and their families of South Asian heritage, where mental health is often stigmatised.

Regardless of race and culture I feel proud to say that I can support the people in society where help is needed the most.”
