NHS talking therapies for anxiety and depression

You can access talking therapies for free on the NHS.

You can refer yourself directly to an NHS talking therapies service without a referral from a GP, or a GP can refer you.

Help is available in person, by video, over the phone or as an online course.

According to best-practice guidance, we can offer you a variety of treatments depending on your needs, for example cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness and interpersonal therapy. You can find out more on our leaflet and on our page what we provide.

Express your interest in tackling inequalities

There is work happening in Birmingham’s mental health services to tackle race inequalities and make things fairer and more equal – so you can get the help you need, have a good experience, and achieve good outcomes from the help you receive.
To tackle these inequalities, we need your help. We would like to hear your views and experiences to gain a better understanding of what needs to be improved.

We will be inviting you to participate in workshops where you can tell us how things need to improve. The workshops will be very relaxed, you might find the things we do in the workshops fun and interesting, there will be food and refreshments, and there will also be a payment for your participation.

If you are interested, provide your details in the form and we will soon be in touch to tell you more. Thank you.

Introduction to Birmingham Healthy Minds Part Two

We are a teaching NHS Trust and, as such, you may be allocated to a trainee psychological practitioner/therapist for treatment, or there may be a trainee present during your session. You will be informed if this is going to happen and you can let us know if you don’t consent to having therapy with a trainee. If you have any questions, please let us know.

What to expect from your first therapy session

We understand that some people may feel nervous when they hear the word ‘therapy’, and you might have lots of questions – which is totally normal.
